Let's Talk Sensory Systems: An OT Lens for Play Therapists

June 9, 2026 | 6:00-7:30 pm PT

Registration closes Sunday, June 7 at midnight PT!

We all have that kiddo in the playroom, the one who can't stop moving, shuts down without warning, or crashes into furniture. You've tracked the behavior, held the relationship, and followed their lead. But have you ever wondered what the body is actually trying to say?

In this 90-minute workshop, occupational therapist and OccuPLAYtional Therapist Kelsie "Mick" Olds presents an OT perspective on sensory systems and behavior in the playroom, while LMFT and Registered Play Therapist™ Jessamy Whitsitt facilitates the discussion, bridging Kelsie's OT framework with the realities of mental health and play therapy practice.

Together they explore the sensory layer underneath the emotional and relational work you're already doing.

“Play is the child’s symbolic language of self-expression and can reveal (a) what the child has experienced; (b) reactions to what was experienced; (c) feelings about what was experienced; (d) what the child wishes, wants, or needs; and (e) the child’s perception of self.”
